We learn a great deal about how to pray from Chana, who
wanted a child, whose cries and tefillos were answered with the birth of Shmuel
HaNavi. Rabbi Tatz explains that Chana’s tefillos were not for
self-referencing goals, that her sincere plea for a child that she would raise
for Hashem’s service was the basis for being answered. Rabbi Tatz explains that Chana’s tefilla to
Hashem depicted that according to Torah, Chana could have a child if she
survives the sotah waters, but that would involve a desecration of Hashem’s
Name because His Name would be erased in the ceremony. Because Chana’s sincerity to devote the child
to Hashem’s service was sincere, Hashem answered her prayers without her having
to go through the process of forcing Him to give a child through the Sotah
ceremony.
Chana understood that Hashem is the Source. Rabbi Tatz gave a great analogy, that if I
want shoes, I know to go into a shoe store because I believe that is where I
can buy shoes. Thus, when we know with
100 percent clarity that Hashem is the Source of all, the paradigm through
which we look at bitterness changes.
Imagine a road sign that says All Bitterness-Road
Closed. We stop. The road towards
feeding our sadness with more and more thoughts is CLOSED. Yet what do we do with the emotions? Very often, our identity, ego, circumstances,
and life are very caught up in constricted places.
The new road sign is Got Bitterness? Untrap it for Happiness
HERE. We turn. What is the new road? Once we realize that happiness, which is experienced
by the higher soul when serving Hashem even if we don’t sense that happiness,
has been trapped in a futile effort, we are empowered to re-align our thoughts
with Torah, with avoda, and with kindness, emulating Hashem, the Source for
happiness. Bitterness is spiritual
biofeedback that our higher soul is working for something not based in Torah or
Hashem’s Will.
It does NOT mean we have to feel badly about ourselves for
our failing. It is very possible that
Hashem has placed us in such a situation to give us currency to have a really
positive impact on Nishmas Am Yisrael. We
hold a kiddush cup when making kiddush, and we don’t just leave the cup on the
table looking at it. So too, we need to take into our hearts circumstances so
that when we choose to release the energy seeing it is all from Hashem, to have
mercy on the Shechina suffering in our suffering JUST to give us the
opportunity to recognize the opportunity we have to unify His Name by declaring
His Oneness. The beauty is that when we
sincerely desire to redirect what is trapped within us, along with whatever is
trapped in the hearts of those who triggered the circumstances, or throughout
history whose mistakes are teaching us in the moment, we can liberate the
Shechina from ALL of Jewish history if we plead with Hashem to please bring all
that energy from the tuma to the side of bracha because of our words of prayer,
and to please help us draw deeply into ourselves with that energy the ability
to reveal His Glory in the moment.
By doing this consistently over time, we come to see that we
are a growing vibration built through effort to reveal His Glory, and we are
NOT that aching physical being with training from childhood trying to satisfy
its hunger for the happiness of serving Hashem through the idols of this world.
May we embark on the journey of liberating the Shechina Who
willingly hides Himself so that we can build this real vibration and draw into
time and space through the reality of our natural neurocircuitry a reflection
of His Glory, the seed of rachamim implanted within us through His Thought
Nishmas Am Yisrael.
And may we soon see a new light in the world.

Hashem and the avoda to peel off layers so that we can sense the natural
happiness of the soul in our service.
